At 2am on Saturday, a drunk driver barreled into my car. I smacked into the driver side airbag. Smoke began to fill the compartment. I staggered out of my car and stood there for a moment, shaking in my shock.

I looked at the hood of my car, now abruptly truncated right at the point where my feet were. I was inches away from my own death.
